African Resistance
Slave trades were widely traded in Africa to transport many slaves to the New world or to Europe. Taken away forcefully by the white people, people in Africa were force to become slaves illegally. There were lots of African resistance during the time of slavery, such as the Djola and Balanta. Djola and Balanta resisted lots of European revolts. That bought their revolution with them and they had to change the religious systems. The most documented resistance was in Africa off the African coast in the slaving ships. In the harbors and on the voyages themselves. The way was that the slaves would do that by would starving on purpose or by suicide and infanticide. In some communities there were runaways known as Maroons which established themselves as Maroons. In Haiti there were lots of Maroons. This meant a start of a rebellion against slavery. In Haiti they were 65, 65!! Revolts by enslaved Africans. |
