Thomas Jefferson"All men are created equal" this quote by Thomas Jefferson was the belief to hold the key to the freedom. As the colonist declared their truth and their desire to the world, they expressed their freedom. In the end, to break their chain from their motherland, they declared the war. Over the long battle of freedom, the Great Britain ceded their victory to America at last. Although freedom was bestowed to the citizens of America, none of the government enfranchised the slaves.
After few years, many people who opposed slavery started to form their new ideas to enfranchise the slaves. Sooner or later, civil war started. But before all of the civil war happened, who actually started to influence to enfranchise the slaves? Who opposed slavery? How did the slaves escape? |
Slave Resistance
Many people have cooperated to stop the unfair treatment of the slaves. In order to make a strong influence to the world about slavery, many people have joined their hands to create slave resistance or an organization to stop slavery. Slavery did not only happen in America, therefore slave resistances were all over the world. Resistances were often in bloody and violent situation, although not all slaves acted violently. Some slaves rebelled in unusual ways, such as breaking expensive machinery to waste their master’s money, working slowly to decrease the profit, pretending to be sick to not work, and other more. |
Reasons for Resistance
Many reasons caused the slaves to form resistances. Although the resistances had many differences, they all had one common goal, to obtain freedom. As the population of the slave increased within several years, fear for rebellion grew with it. Many harsh treatments were given daily. Slaves were forced to work about 100 hours a week. During their labors, slaves will often collapse by dehydration or get injured by machinery. Many of these slaves were unpleasantly forced to work.
